TEIN Type BASIC damper is for the driver that is seeking high performance with a reasonable price. The Basic damper MSRP starts at $750.00, which includes 4 springs and 4 shocks. Compared to the "sleeve type" coil over, the Type Basic has a more exclusive set up for a better balance of suspension travel and damping force.

* High performance and cost effective.
* Ride Height adjustable.
* New paint coating for rust prevention.
* Pillow ball mounts are optional (on certain applications).
* Exclusive design for USA vehicle specifications.
(only available for the U.S.A Market).
* Available for overhaul.

Is that a suggestion, or a personal preference? The spec-d has adjustable valving, which I wuld gain use of as a street car primarily, and an occasssional weekend racer.

Tokico D-Spec Dampers with Tein Springs (High.Tech Sport or S.Tech Race)

The capability of the D-Spec adjustable shock to be such a multi-use product, results from a sophisticated piston and valving design, combined with a unique variable-aperture bypass controlled by an adjustable slide valve. D-Spec adjustments change both rebound and compression damping simultaneously. Between the hard and soft settings, the D-Spec has 7.5 levels of adjustability. D-Spec shocks and struts are sold in sets of four. Each set includes a manual giving pointers on how to adjust the D-Spec as well as various suspension tuning tips. D-Spec suspension kits include 4 D-Spec shocks/struts and do not include lowering springs.

TEIN springs utilize the latest spring and material technology to optimize comfort, performance, and quality. The line is produced with Vanadium (SAE9254V), which is strong, lightweight, and has properties to retain more spring stroke. High.Tech springs are designed for those seeking a slightly lowered stance while maintaining high ride quality at a reasonable price. Most vehicles will attain a drop that will provide the best combination for a more attractive appearance, added performance, and excellent comfort.  The S.Tech lowering spring achieves both low down form and sport specification, and is loaded with technology from the sports field of N1 Endurance Racing and WRC. The S.Tech has been developed with high quality materials guaranteed to be sag free (of no more than 5mm) and comes with a protected rubber tube for noise and rust prevention. Includes a one year limited warranty.

Tein Sport High.Tech - Drop is 1.1" Front & 1.0" Rear

Tein Race S.Tech - Drop is 1.7" Front & 1.5" Rear

Granted I like the additional drop of the basic, as the rear need to go down further than the front, or you get a stink bug look.

The Teins are great.  I'll be back in Michigan in April if someone wants to look me up and go for a ride.

My friend has the D-Specs on a set of Intrax springs.  Nice setup too.  I'm biased though.
